Well...I am not a computer expert but from what I have just read when you uninstall IE 8 you can roll back to IE7. It doesn't go away. But I have provided a link from Microsoft so that you make sure you do the right thing first. I hope this helps. Make sure that you go to Microsoft and get the right directions in doing this. Good Luck. Glad I read this because I was gonna install IE 8. But now I am not.

XP: add/remove programs

Firefox is the final i will assert, yet i might save IE-8 on your laptop because of the fact now and back Firefox wont load some web content and that i continuously use yet frequently do no longer opt to apply IE-8 as a backup browser

Internet explorere 8 should show up in your add or remove programs list. uninstalling ie8 should automatically bring back ie7
if ie8 is in the listbut doesnt have an uninstall option you may need to uninstall any microsoft service packs that were installed after ie8 and then try again.

You should probably keep IE updated as windows uses it for other tasks within the OS.
If you want a good browser then switch to Firefox which can be downloaded from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html
