Vigorous arm flapping – does it go away by itself?

I know arm flapping is a complex motor tic often associated with Tourettes or Fragile X. Do you know of any other condition associated with arm flapping, or do you know someone who used to do it all the time and could not help it, but they now don't flap anymore? How did they get it to stop?

Update:

As background, the person with this symptom is 10 years old and very normal apart from a bit of hyperactivity and confrontational tendencies. He is not taking any medication for this as it hasn't been investigated thoroughly yet. We are, however, in the process of finding out what's going on, but so far the paediatrician hasn't referred to us a neurologist at all, just a psychologist.

Autism is sometimes associated with arm flapping and other involuntary or repetitious movements, but that's the only thing I can think of. If this is happening to you or someone you know, a visit to a neurologist might be a good thing.

I second the above answer and look at any meds esp stimulants that may not be helping at current dose-Full neurological exam with a specialist is a must.
