How often can my 7 lb Yorkie be given a baby aspirin? He had 2 shots earlier today and is really sore.?

He had one baby aspirin before the shots, 9 hrs ago, and one about 4 hrs ago. He won't eat and is obviously uncomfortable. He is a year and a half old, and was sore last year when he got his shots, but the baby aspirin took care of it.

If you keep giving this tiny dog aspirin he will be a lot more sore than he is at the moment. You will cause him to have a nasty stomach upset and mess with the ability of his blood to coagulate normally.

Keep him warm and comfortable and he will be ok. Don't baby him or he will really start to think something is very wrong.

I would not give him an aspirin.

Benadryl works for common vaccine reactions.

Dosage 1-2mg per pound. They usually come in 25mg tablets.

I would try giving him 1/4 tablet. You can give it up to three times daily.

Now the Benadryl will make him sleepy, but does help with minor vaccine reactions.

Also - if he tends to have these minor reactions, make sure to tell your vet.

He probably should only get one vaccination at a time, then come back in another week to get the other.

It's better for the dog to be uncomfortable then to give them drugs. They can really mess up their stomachs. Obviously if we're talking intense pain then thats different not for something little.
