I want to go see Muse and U2 at Giants Stadium but I know NOTHING about the area.?

I want to go to see this concert, we are flying from Calgary, Canada (pending permission from the girlfriend) but don't know the airport we should fly to (whether its New Jersey or New York), what hotels are close to it, if its safe enough to walk to and from the concert or if we should cab it, how much to expect for a hotel, all that jazz. Any help from anyone? Its at Giants Stadium on the 24th of September.

Whether you fly into LGA, EWR, or JFK, honestly it doesnt make a huge difference. If it's your first time in NYC Stay in NYC, tripadvisor is gonna be a lot more helpful on this one. You cannot walk to and from Giants Stadium, besides another stadium there is NOTHING there. Cab it, maybe 50? I've never cabbed there, you might also have to take a bus, their web site will have the info. All in all, NYC is expensive, if you're just flying in and staying at an airport hotel, and rent a car or cab to the show, have at least 1,000. And when they break into the chorus of Magnificent i'd better hear you cheering!!!

Giants Stadium is part of a sports complex called The Meadowlands. Look at it this way: You are coming to New York City.

There are hotels out there but it's kind of isolated. It's not an urban area even though it's 10 minutes outside Manhattan. (It's protected wildlife area, I believe, which is why it's not developed.)

Airfares from Newark (EWR) usually aren't much different than JFK so fly into there if it makes sense. You can take a shuttle van, bus or train from EWR into Manhattan. I prefer Super Shuttle because it takes you door to door and isn't so much more expensive than the bus. The bus drops you a few places in Manhattan. The train drops you at Penn Station and you have have to transfer in Secaucus, NJ.

Your hotel might provide shuttle service as well. Make certain to ask them.

You can get to the concert at the stadium by taking a bus from the Port Authority in Manhattan out to the Meadowlands. They run special buses out for the concerts in addition to the normal service they provide -

The nearest airport to the Giants Stadium is Newark-Liberty International Airport, which is located some 10 to 15 miles (16 to 21 km) south of the Stadium.

In regards to hotel, depending on your budget, may I recommend the link below.
