Does anyone have info on cross-pollination of potatoes and tomatoes?

I have Russet potatoes planted in containers, and one plant is near/touching a tomato plant, and there is a small tomato growing on the potato plant. I can't find anything online that would indicate that these two things can cross-pollinate.

It's not a tomato. It's the fruit of the potato plant. It's poisonous and can make you very sick. (Never heard of a death from it--but I don't really know). Do not eat the potato fruit.

It might be interesting though to let it develop. I've only seen pictures of these so I don't know when to say it's ripe. But inside this fruit are "real" seeds that would grow into potatoes. As you know what we plant and call seed potatoes are either chunks of a potato with eyes or very small potatoes.

They really won't cross pollinate. What you have is a true potato plant fruit. You don't get a lot of them but they do produce some. VERY toxic, so don't be tempted to give it a taste.

as they belong to the same family a cross over does happen, depending on the variety, that is why a tomato should never be planted where potatoes have been

My potatoes were way away from my tomatoes one year and they all grew tiny tomatoes, i just cut them off and the plants matured and the potatoes were fine.

I am certain they won't cross pollinate but they are both members of the nightshade family.

i'm stunned that I examine that and stated them in a different way in my head, backtracked and observed that they are spelled an identical. a great form of human beings choose to think of that they are the staggering ones and that all and sundry else could desire to settle for THEIR way of asserting/doing issues, even although whichever is right, different dialects, different pronunciations.
