If I install XP on my vista, will it speed it up? It says on it "Designed for XP, Windows Vista Capable"
I know it will work, as I have found out on my dad's laptop.
It is too slow for me on Vista. It is also too slow for a snail.

yes, Vista has been proven to slow down computers. The saying goes " if you have vista, take off 1 gig off your ram and thats how much you have to work with." So yes it will speed it up.
Note: I downgraded my vista laptop to an xp and now it works AMAZINGLY fast.

Yea that should work - it's what I did with mine, came with Vista, I uninstalled it and put on XP, works much better now.
