At what age do hens start laying?

I have 8 that are 22 weeks old, and only 3 of them are laying. I thought 20 weeks was when they'd start.

Chickens will start laying eggs between 6 and 8 months depending on the breed.

    Hope this helps!

The earliest they will start to lay is 5 months, but usually by 7 months. But, it also depends on the time of year. If they are reaching that age in the late fall or winter you may not see any eggs until spring.

It could depend on the breed of the chicken, Some of mine were a bit later than 20 weeks.
