Suggestions for young guy with thick hair?

I'm a young (well, 30), fit guy with hair that is thick, dirty-blonde, a little wavy, and which looks kind of greasy if I put much product in it. I have a fairly symmetrical face and a pronounced jawline. I need something that can look sexy when I'm out at parties and with the younger friends, but I also want to be able to pass it off in my corporate consulting environment. I don't like shaggy, and I'm trying to avoid the buzz cut. Any suggestions on cuts and/or treatments?

(And no, I'm not the name on this profile. That's the wifey)

Update:

My hair starts looking a little greasy with most products, whether we're talking gel, spray, or mousse. Plus I get that hard-hair look, which I basically have to brush out once it dries every morning. I might be using a little too much product or something, but even a tiny bit of pomade or other sculpting product results in hard hair.

A big part of why the greasiness is apparent is the color, I think. It's an ashy blond, like Brett Favre before he started going gray. I also just have a naturally oily complexion, which is great for keeping my skin looking young, but makes hair a little harder.

If i were you, i would go for the more layered cut, this is always a popular in the impressing/sexy department. The layering can be styled messily when going out, and when going to work can just be worn as is. I'm not sure if this is counted as shaggy hair..but maybe something like Brad Pitt would suit you.

Um..is the greasy-ish look bothering you? If it is, all i can say is try different products! Have a look at the description and ingredients. If you can't find any product that suits you, use heat! For the messy look just blow-dry your hair so it sticks up where you want it too, maybe the Mrs can help with that. Anyway, good luck and have fun with your hair!

I agree, getting it thinned out would be your best bet. Just remember, the more your hair weighs, the more tame it will be without product. Keep playing with products because there are tons that shouldn't make your hair greasy. Look for things that say "volume" or a spray instead of a serum. Sometimes, long hair looks best (and most professional) slicked back. Good luck!

  • What type of products do you use in your hair that it makes your hair look greasy? You should shorten it so that you don't need as much styling products. Here's a look that I think will work for your thick hair:

EDITED - You shouldn't brush out the gel from you hair when it feels "crunchy", you should wash it out every morning. If you don't want that "crunchy" feel but still want the hold, use these type of Aussie products: http://www.aussie.com/en_US/opposites-attract

    I speak from experience.

first be happy it's thick, most guys at thirty wish that their hair were thicker, nobody can project what you would look like without seeing you, I suggest you look in magazines, and find something both you and your wife both like.

Go to a hairdresser and ask her to thin it out! I have to do this for my hair also. Then you can have any cut you want.
