If you want to take possession of the precious metals, check out Apmex.com. I've used them for years, silver delivered to your front door.

Otherwise you can invest in the silver ETF, symbol SLV, or the gold ETF, symbol GLD.

You do not want to put all of your money in just one place--too much risk. If you have 17,000 then perhaps if you are really aggressive you would put 1700 into silver. If not so aggressive then maybe 850 in silver. Then maybe 200 a month if you still think that it is a bargain. Silver is kind of bulky though and also subject to theft. It takes a lot of room to store and tends to disappear easily unless it is in a bank vault. You can solve the disappearance problem by buying SLV an exchange traded fund that holds silver but there is an expense associated with that. Also keep in mind that silver does not pay any dividends or interest.
