The search for the new Malcolm Winters is over. The Young and the Restless has tapped former child star, Darius McCrary, to assume the role originated by Emmy winner Shemar Moore. McCrary became a household name during his near-decade-long run as Eddie Winslow on Family Matters.
As previously reported by soapcentral.com, The Young and the Restless has been working behind-the-scenes to recast the role of Malcolm Winters, originated by model-turned-actor-turned-Emmy winner Shemar Moore. In a surprising move, the show has tapped a former child star for the role.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Darius McCrary, who is best known for having appeared in the 1990s as Eddie Winslow on the ABC family-friendly sitcom Family Matters, has inked a multi-year deal to appear as Malcolm. McCrary reports for his first day of work on November 18.
It would have been better to had just left Shemar out of town, because I don't want a replacement either.
Edut: I liked Davetta Sherwood as Lily better than I do Crystal, so that swap was great.

Yeah, I did! I almost cried when I read it. I was wondering who Darius McCrary was because the name was familiar, then when I remembered he was Eddie Winslow I was like, nooo! Eddie was cool, but he's no Malcolm.
I guess he'll make the role his own, and I guess it'll all work out in the end. They wanted Shemar Moore back, but he's too involved with the other show. He wouldn't have had a problem working it out to where he could drop in part-time, and even come back from time to time. But the Y&R people wanted a full-time Malcolm. I guess that's the breaks.
What I'm uneasy about is what they'll do to Darius after everybody's got used to him, and then Shemar becomes available full-time. They're so cold-blooded, they'll probably go running to Shemar and beg him to come back, then fire Darius! They really should've waited.

Yeah I read that last week....who knows maybe the guy will grow on us? or not? Just like Adam and his replacement as far as I am concerned the guy is just there...he is no big deal..just acting his part. How about when they replaced Lily? I was liking the new girl and then Lily came back......I think I kind of like the replacement Lily better...so who knows...it is all a matter of opinion.

shemar or darius. No contest. It would've been better just to kill his character than replace him. I like darius but really as malcolm. I don't even watch Y&R anymore.

the last thing we need now is a family matters reunion
and if you dont know what that means
google byrton mcclure and you'll see this is a disaster waiting to happen

Yes, I read that and was surprised! I am curious how he will do bc that image of dumb Eddie Winslow is locked in my brain! LOL!
