Turkey for Christmas? What about something different?

Why has turkey become the traditional Christmas meal? I would rather have something different. Has anyone ever had game bird, such as pheasant, partridge, grouse, or any other type of bird? Are there other ideas?

We usually have roasted chicken but this year I can't be bother faffing about roasting it and preparing it. I don't feel like being on my feet for ages as I am pregnant. Plus my two year old daughter is on a phase where she'll just eat pasta so we are having pasta. When we go to my in laws on boxing day we'll have chicken or duck there. I'm hoping for chicken not duck as I don't like the taste.

It's not the traditional Christmas meal at my house. Try honey roasted ham, it's THE BEST. I love Christmas Dinner waaaaay more than Thanksgiving.

We usually have rouladin. It's pounded steak with bread crumbs and bacon rolled up inside. Yummy! We top it off with twice baked potatoes, spinach salad, and rolls.

My family has lamb...it's really good. I wouldn't suggest pheasant, it has a wired taste( at least to me and others I know who have tried it).
