Is it the TV or the PS3 that's the problem?

Our original PS3 died about a week ago and we replaced it with a new PS3 (120GB). Ever since getting it, we've been having a problem with the TV (LG 50" plasma) suddenly showing a static screen sometimes when starting a game or at times when quitting a game. If we turn the TV off then back on, it's fine; or, if we cycle through the different TV formats (DVD, HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.), it works. It doesn't do it in the middle of a game.

I've tried looking online but haven't found any help. Is there some setting we need to put the TV on, or some setting we need for the PS3? It's darn annoying.

You guys have to set the video setting first as you just bought your PS3 Slim. I suggest choosing the auto choose setting when doing it so your PS3 would decide the best format you can set your video to.
