Is it correct to light candles on the table for a ladies luncheon?

I'm having 12 women over for lunch. We will be at my dining room table with fine china and silver. I'll have flowers. Do I light low candles, as I would in the evening, even when the room is filled with day light?

I wouldn't light the candles during the day.

It is not appropriate to light candles in a daylight-filled room. The primary function of candles is to provide light.

You might dim the blinds to make the candlelight more appealing. The candles are up to the hostess and would be lovely!

The majority of posters is right: candles are for evenings.

Candles are always nice and make an event more festive - why not?

It's not a bad idea, but it just might be a waste as it would probably go unnoticed in the daylight.
