Has anyone had any success (made money) by placing ads on US FreeAds.com.?
If so can you share your experiences and possible advise on what works best
Thank you Jeff for a most informative and expansive answer. I had never heard of some of the sites you mentioned but will check them out.

FreeAds is good, but don't forgo the other free advertising sites as well.
Here are some ideas for you.
gohuman.com : especially good if you want to target a market in a particular zip code area
Craigslist : good to target a city - but your advertisements have to be renewed regularly and there is a lot of spam on the site. Your advertisement only appears on the top until the next person places a listing, causing yours to drop down the page.
classifieds.org
sell.com : mostly paid advertising, some free available
oodle.com : looks pretty good, but I haven't tried it
backpage.com : I've been told this is good, so it's worth a look
And here are a couple of others I've just come across -- I haven't looked at them, but you might want to.

epage.com
