Yahoo Answers is shutting down on 4 May 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.
Do people who have a very high percentage of best answers ever do either if these things?
Do they (you) delete your answer if you see that someone else's is better and more likely to be chosen best? Do you look over the answers that have already been posted and post one yourself only if you're sure yours will be better than any of those already posted? In short, do you resist the temptation to answer questions for which you're unlikely to get best answer?

I've been known to delete my answer if somebody before me has given virtually the identical answer and I missed seeing their post. This has nothing to do with getting higher BA%, though, just avoiding duplication of information.
Same for posting when there are already some answers on a question. If I have relevant information that I consider to be important, but was not posted previously, I'll post it. I don't do that to snag BA, but to give needed, helpful information.

Don't think anyone can delete someone else's answers. There is no way to know that your answer will be selected as a Best Answer.
