...but what about our bowling?

The criticism of New Zealand teams has for a long time (quite rightly) been that the top order don't score enough runs consistently. But this test has highlighted another problem - on a pitch that was supposed to be fast & bouncy & support the quick bowlers, Dan Vettori bowled more overs on the first day of the test than any of the quicks. Bangladesh is the only other test playing nation where this would happen.

Un Zud desperately need Bond or a player of Bond's capabilities but pace bowling has never been a strength of the Kiwis for so long, since the days of Hadlee and then Morrison.

I want to forget the whole test like a bad dream... what was that? They were 170-4, game was all ours... but we just blew it

And what we did in first 20 overs of our batting was never acceptable, shame that even Bangladesh plays much better... they were 300-7 last I checked! If we reach near that I'll be damn happy...

Now just avoid embarrassing follow on and just get to 300+, no shame in losing on last day by 50 odd runs...

And we need to rethink on all these bowlers, just getting economy of 2.6 in tests wont do the job, we need wickets...

    Look...

...we're just not very good. Our players are too mentally fragile. Batsmen have poor technique. Bowlers simply lack talent and don't bowl smart.

And this isn't new. NZ has been poor at cricket since Hadlee retired. What's amazing is how many people still follow them and get disappointed year after year. It defies all common sense, especially considering before Hadlee, cricket was only a middle sport in NZ.

okay we are not the best bowlers now but our batsman cant bat any better

if we had a target to defend and were able to catch better we might do better
