Using the iPhone in the iHome iH9?

So I just got an iPhone 3GS a few days ago. one of the things I was excited about was I could charge it in my iHome! so when I go to plug it in it says its not compatible with the accessory and It cant play music or charge. However, when I put it on a certain angle (with a help of a pack of gum) it stays charging & can even play music. but its annoying to use the gum pack. sooooo what's wrong?

If your iHome has a sticker on it that says 'Made for iPod' it means it was made for IPOD not iPod AND iPhone..maybe that's what's wrong...if it doesn't have a sticker that says made for iPhone then that's why that message always pops up...I haven an iHome and an iPhone 3G and that messages pops up too but it still charges for me so idk what's wrong with yours.
