What should I do about my coach in track?
I am a 16 year old boy in High School Track and am having trouble with my coach. I like to run in an older pair of Nike sneakers that I bought last year since they seem to have good support, fit well, and allow me to run fast. My ridiculous coach keeps telling me to buy a pair of Asics. I went to the store and the shoes were too narrow and I didn't like them. I told him this and he says that he would be satisfied if I bought any Asics model available. I couldn't believe this! Is this guy getting paid by Asics or something??? The fact is, I don't like their shoes and am happy with what I have, and this guy won't leave me alone. I am one of the better runners in my group and do not see how these expensive sneakers could improve my performancce in any way.

use what works for you I also have a wide foot and have trouble with some shoes (Asics included) personally for running I prefer Mizuno as I can find them wide enough for me they are light and have good support
The shoe really can make a difference in your running performance. I would suggest going to a running shoe store, they will analyze your stride and how you run then make suggestions based on that and on what sort of competition you are in
in the end tell the coach the shoes you have work for you and when you replace them it will be with the shoe that suits you personally not the one that suits his preference

First of all, your coach has no right to do this. He has no right to boss you around, and he definitely can't tell you what shoes you should wear for track. Screw him! I say you complain to the principle and show him whose boss! Hope I helped.

you have the right ( the legal right) to run in what ever you want! and as long as you are wearing runners he cant say anything. ask him not to ask you again!

Tell your counselor- You don't have to wear what they want as far as brand goes.
