I have 2 puppies that are 17 weeks old...Im worrying that i havent socialized them enough...?

My question is, is it too late to introduce them too new stuff without becoming fearful? They are Toy dogs, they are both very opposite in personailties...

You shouldnt be afriad to do anything with them at any age in my opinion. introducing new things, activities, games, play sessions, people is all part of the process and beacuse they are 17 weeks now does not and should not hinder them in anyway !!!

    socialisation covers 3 main aspects:

people, dogs, environmental objects e.g. loud sounds telephones, microwaves, tvs, car noises, trains

most important is people. because if your dogs grow up and bite someone well that isn't good for you, the dog or the person being bitten. take them to new places, new SAFE people, friends, and let them learn that everyone in the world is friendly.

socialising with dogs is not 'super important'. dogs are pack animals and only some dogs will be happy socialising/playing with other dogs. playing with other dogs is not for every dog.

environmental is 2nd most important after people. having a dog afraid of sounds of the world can be very annoying when they get older. and it gets harder to teach them to be ok with it. relate to food, take them to different places and feed them treats/play with them and let them get used to the world.

dogs WILL be fearful at first, just keep doing it (day after day) until the dogs become comfortable with whatever was scaring them.

you are on the edge of the 'window' after 16-18 weeks, they can be 'stuck' in fearful mode for the rest of their lives. go out today and show them the world is ok!
