It is 2.3 km (1.4 miles) to walk from the Arc de Triomphe to the Eiffel Tower. Whether or not you wish to walk this will depend on whether or not your family is used to walking like that, and the ages of the kids. It is not a difficult walk, on sidewalks the whole way and down the Champs-Elysees for part of it, which is a beautiful area to walk through. A walking map with directions is available at http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=ar...

Okay, let's go in order of what you have indicated. From Disneyland Paris, you will take the RER (suburban train) line A from the Disneyland Paris station called "Marne-la-Vallee Chessy - RER" in to the station "Charles de Gaulle - Etoille". This train line starts at Disneyland Paris, so it only goes in one direction from there. The train ride will be about 45 minutes in length. The station "Charles de Gaulle - Etoille" is basically right underneath the Arc-de-Triomphe.

From the Arc-de-Triomphe, you may either use the walking directions that I have provided above, or you may take public transit. If you wish to take the metro, you can head back underground to the Charles de Gaulle - Etoille station and catch metro line 6. Again, this line starts from this station so it will only be going in one direction. Take the metro five stops until station Bir-Hakeim from where it is just a few-minute walk to the tower itself.

To head back to Disneyland Paris, it is a little more difficult as there is no direct RER line from the Eiffel Tower. It will likely be easiest to backtrack a little as otherwise if you head in the proper direction at all times, you will need to take three RER lines. Instead, I will recommend you take one metro line and one RER. To make it even easier, it will involve you taking the lines you have already used up to this point. So, go back to Bir-Hakeim metro station and take it back to Charles de Gaulle - Etoille station. From there switch to the RER line A, but make sure the one you are getting on says that it is going to Marnee-la-Vallee - Chessy (may also say line A4) as the RER A line splits in two, with only one line going to where you are headed. Allow up to an hour to make the return journey.

To get a visual of what the journey is like, use the metro transit map at http://www.ratp.info/orienter/plan_metro_pdf.php - remember that Disneyland Paris is to the west. This map does not quite show where it is, but it does label where you will be coming from/going to for that station. If you wish to see the entire map, both metro and RER in detail, take a look at http://www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/carteidf.php?lang...

Remember when you are purchasing transit tickets that you will be travelling between zones, so you must have the proper tickets. Disneyland Paris is in zone 5, whereas the other sites you will be seeing are in zone 1. It is not so much a problem when buying tickets to head in from Disneyland Paris or within Paris, but when you are heading back out to Disneyland, make sure you buy tickets that will take you out to zone 5.

    Have a great trip!
