In MS excel, how can I create a column-header dropdown based on row entries?

I am using a chart that has a dropdown in a column header which automatically fills in with the unique items in the column. For instance, I have an column dropdown for name and under it are 5 instances of SMITH and 5 instances of THOMPSON. When I click on the dropdown arrow I can select from: all, SMITH or THOMPSON and only the lines with those names will appear (or all lines will appear if I click 'all').

Does anyone know how I can re-create this type of dropdown feature? It seems quite sophisticated to me and I don't know how it is called to try looking it up.

THANK YOU!!!
