Does vitriol come naturally to atheists?

I mean, I was once one, and I have been there. I used to spend time online berating religious people. I don't anymore because I don't want to hate.

Why do you?

BTW I am not religious.

vitriol doesn't come very naturally to me actually. i don't berate or hate on others unless i'm berated or hated on first. i come here because it's one thing i've found that holds my interest for more than a few minutes.

I do not berate relgious people, i merely state my opinion on a religion. I have never once said that i have hated an entire religion. There are sects in some religions which i have degraded (peadophile catholic proiests, muslim extremists) but i have never once hated an entire religion. Simply because i do not believe in religious notions does not mean that i do not see how it positively effects many peoples lives and makes them feel as though there is purpose in life.

I myself, am a very angry person. I find it extremely easy to hate people and extremely difficult to accept people i know have done wrong. That is why, for example, the catholic priests i have a grudge against due to their sexually proven relationship with boys. I am aware that this is not all priests, but my question is how can i know who are and who arnt child malestors?

It's easy for me to argue against religion as im sure religious people find it easy to argue for thier religion, but it is all a matter of beelief. I beleive what can be proven, what i can see or touch, religious people are more suggestable and beleive what they are told simply because alot of other people believe it. I am not saying this is wrong, i am simply saying it is fact.

"I used to spend time online berating religious people"

And you have now switched to atheists? Moving up in the world, huh?

Source(s): Why yes, that is my middle finger sticking in your face.

It doesn't come naturally to me, but the willful ignorance of the religious inflames my passions.

You're making assumptions about a group of people based upon your experience. That's not very enlightened, work on that some.

I take vitriol twice a day when I have trouble holding an erection.

So because you were a dick-head,everyone that shares the lack of belief you once had is ipso magico facto a dick-head too.

I'm glad you forsook reason and reality, atheism doesn't want your kind.

We are, in no way, as cruel and bitter as those who run organized religions. Those people are monsters in every sense of the word.

Religion is evil. We fight that evil with facts, logic and reason. If, along the way, we piss some people off, so be it.

BTW... "vitriol" is one of my favorite words.

I guess you're right. It is unsporting to attack an unarmed opponent.

Even in a battle of wits.
