What's your team of the India-Australia series?

Here's mine:

Watson

Vijay

Ponting

Tendulkar

Raina

Laxman

Paine

Singh

Khan

Bollinger

Ojha

Tough choice between Raina and North - Raina: one good score, one dismal failure and one in between. North: one century and 3 dismal failures.

Tempted to pick Dhoni as a captain, but Paine was the better batsman in this series and probably made fewer errors behind the stumps.

Bollinger and Laxman make it on the basis of one test (one innings in Laxman's case - but what an innings!)

Update:

@ Anita Dick: Too right - and if you believe Warne, he shouldn't be setting fields for any spin bowlers!

Update 2:

@ Vamos: A fair enough call. Hilfenhaus has only averaged 43.5 in the series, but that's not really reflective of his performance. He's definitely been Australias best in Bollinger's absence. But I would cerainly go for Harbhajan in Indian conditions.

If I was choosing a team for the next test, I would (obviously) go for Sehwag over Vijay, but it really has been a pretty poor series for him.

Update 3:

@ Abel: A fair call on Dhoni. I can't see how Watson can be left out though - he scored a century, two fifties and a thirty in his four innings - the best opener for either team from where I sit.

Don't think I am biased, but I want Dhoni in place of Paine. His leadership was impressive: he achieved what no other captains could..hand out a white wash to Aus. His keeping was OK, and any day he's a better batsman than the Aussie.

    Virender Sehwag

    Murali Vijay

    Ricky Ponting

    Sachin Tendulkar

    VVS Laxman

    Suresh Raina

    MS Dhoni (Captain n Wicketkeeper)

    Mitchel Johnson

    Harbhajan Singh

    Zaheer Khan

    Doug Bollinger

    12th Man Shane Watson

India have played very good cricket in recent times and a lot of credit goes to Captain Dhoni. Eventhough he hasnt played a very crucial role in Batting he has captained the side and kept wicket really well. His tactics played important role for india becoming No.1 Test team for the first time. He hasnt lost a series. Its an outstanding effort by him. He became captain when India were pretty weakened side. The credit should go to Dhoni for making Indian Team look so strong. His captaincy acievemnts can be seen in IPL as well. There is no way poting will even come close to him. Poting has never been a good captain. He won the matches for Australia because they had players like Haydos, Gilchrist, Warney, Martin, Glenn, Lee(at his Best Form), Langer, Symonds etc. and a lot more

These players had caliber to win matches with their own ability...India never had a strong consistent line up like htis even now cant say its 100% strong...I really believe its dhoni's effort that made India a strong team like this. In the past india neva even came close to this kid of ranking. No.1 in Test. No.2 in ODI. Thats just amazing..Hats off to Dhoni...

watson might be a better option than sehwag..but as an india i prefer sehwag...i always come to watch sehwags innings it may be tests or odi it looks to be aggresive...he is not afraid of anything..thats his nature..i like it very much

    Watson

    Sehwag

    Ponting

    Tendulkar

    Raina

    Laxman

    Paine

    Zkhan

    Bollinger

    Hilfenhaus

    Ojha

    12th H Singh

Shoe,I guess it's a tough choice between Singh and Hilfenhaus in my list.Hilfenhaus has been in fine form in the test series and for the efforts he put in I would like to include him in my team.Well,Paine is good choice over Dhoni,so that makes Ponting captain of the side.

Bhajji is my 12th man and I would choose Sehwag over Vijay.Vijay has played so well throughout the series but I guess Sehwag gives that extra spin bowling option to the side alongwith Ojha. His batting also makes for a destructivecombination if he opens with Shane Watson.

It's just my team.I guess we can swap Singh and Bollinger if needed according to the conditions.

    Opinion my team please:)
