What it's all about earthquake on October 21st, 2010 in California?

As I know the real earthquake cannot be predicted, am I right?

So this one on October 21, 2010 at 10:21am is just a drill, correct?

Yup, a statewide drill and massive waste of money.

We've had drills all my life, from elementary school to statewide, and all it is comes down to blowing money. Playing pretend for an unexpected event that is never the same from one to the next is just about useless.

Real earthquakes cannot be predicted, not even a little bit, unless you count, "sometime in the next 30 years." Interestingly, twice in my life now, the "next 30 years" has come and gone without the "Big One" hitting.

Yes, nobody has ever predicted an earthquake exactly when and where to happen. But it can be monitored and can be evaluated depending on the performance of the plates that forms the outer rigid layers of the earth, and where it will be more severe due to a fracture on the transform faults where plates move alongside each other and due to pressure rocks break and causing plates move in different directions causing vibration on the earth surface.

Seismic Analysis in Structures (Metal and Reinforced Concrete, dams , reservoir) Used to design structures in earthquake prone areas, since it is unpredictable and in resistance to nature of earthquake and intensity.

Earthquakes can also cause tsunamis which can travel through the water at up to 800km/hr. So , seismologist and geologist can help in predicting what will be the intensity depending on the behaviour of the plates along the boundaries around the world.

    correct

earthquakes cannot be predicted with current technology. Whoever is "predicting" it is a scam artist pf some sort. I don't know of any earthquake drills in CA, bit there very well could be one
