AKITAS THE BREED WHAT DO YOU THINK!!!?
Wondering what your guys opinions are on Akitas? What do you think and believe?
Any smart a** answers will not be read! Please be nice and answer only if you know what your talking about please, and have consideration for others if you don't know, then hey don't answer!
Thanks!
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone not putting anything rude on here :)... I've actually owned 5 akitas my whole life, i'm a dog trainer and a groomer, but this time i'm on my own and i'm picking my new akita up on friday :) I just wanted to see peoples views and what people would actually suggest. I know the breed is very powerful and a very loyal dog, and by the way own the Movie A Dogs Tail... If you go online you can read the real story (Hachiko) just as sad! thanks for the help guys and have a wonderful day! You guys we're all great! Hey also Akitas are shedders but they don't shed as bad as a short haired dog ex: pug, beagle, blood hound etc... Akitas shed heavily twice a year, before summer they shed there winter coat and before winter shed there summer coat. If properly groomed shedding is actually minimal. And for the one that said that the akita would let someone in and rob your home becuase they don't bark is false. Akitas have a very discreet warning sign, they WILL let
let you know:)

Akita are great dogs.....but not for everybody. Akitas are strong dogs and can easily drag a troll away, from under a bridge. Akitas a big dogs, with double coats and brushing is a must, to keep their coats clean. Akitas are prone to hip/elbow problems so buying one from a repuatable breeder is necessary for healthy bloodlines. Also adopting a needy older fellow gets four dog paws up.

Akitas are heavy shedders. They are not beginner dogs. They don't bark much. They may not even bark while someone breaks into your home and robs you. Last I heard, there were no size limits in the Akita breed standard so some Akitas are medium-large and others may be very large. You can Google Akitas and find quite a lot more information.

Watch the movie A Dogs Tale. About an Akita, will make you cry.
The breed is high energy, and might not be best for small places, Or if can't exercise enough.

haha funny = im watching dog wisperer right now and cesar is helping an akita. lol. any dog is a is a good dog, it all depends on you. you should research a little about the breed you think you want and see if a good fit for you. focus on how big they get, what their natural personalities and needs are, and where they originated from/what their ancestors did in daily live. i hate to see all the wonderful dogs that are at the pound who are only there b/c there parents weren't completely informed on about the breed. just be sure you are able to provide a forever home for whatever animal you bring into your live-as of 1997, 56% of dogs and 71% of cats that enter animal shelters are euthanize

HI, go to AKC.org and looks the breed profile. You need to have an experience with large, powerful dogs. They are ancient breed, pretty healthy, but need firm hand, need to be socialized early with other dogs and people. They shed a lot, you need a lot of time to spend with dog of that breed. Many of them end in shelters because of lack of understanding their breed character and needs. Do your homework before you buy Akita, be sure it is right breed for you. Good luck!

What do you mean? It's a rather vague question.....
Akitas can be great dogs in the right hands. They are a difficult breed and should only be owned by people who are serious about proper ownership

I think they are beautiful,loyal dogs
Source(s): but like any animal/pet if you mistreat them you loose their loyality
