Questions about Breakaway Roping?

Im interested in breakaway roping. I dont know how to rope or anything about it. So I was think of just getting a rope and atleast practice Roping a cone or a dummy. Maybe get my horse used to it also. What is a good starter rope? Cause there are so many I dont know what kind I should buy and how much do you think its going to cost?

Update:

Also incase the rope you get depends on your body size im like 5'5 115lbs

First before you do anything....you need to how to learn how to correctly rope from somebody. As if you don't learn the basics the correct way then your gonna get bad habits. And when just starting the rope doesn't matter. ANY rope will do until you get roping on the ground down first. As it is harder to do on a horse. So a plain cheap rope is fine, when you start competing is when the rope matters. But your not gonna be competing in a year.

best thing to do is find a ropeing trainer, or someone who ropes say if your in Highschool you should have a NHSRA team. or do you have a local ropeing group?
