Why does everyone believe God exist?

God does not exist, he is a mental illness that people endulge on themselves for comfort and security. Does anyone ever have any proof of his existance aside from the BIBLE which people often quote!? Well the Bible is not proof! It was written by MEN not "GOD" If your seeking salvation, seek reality and accept things you cant do or change... Living a lie that someone is watching over you only holds you to your situation at hand. In other words, learn to be an adult and use your mind, not what YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO BELIEVE.

Kristan is the only person that can call me one thing 3 different ways lol. SOrry but your insecurities are proof of my statement. YOu are a weak human being and cannot function with the thought of being alone. Sorry to hear that.. Natural selection will weed your kind out eventually.

Matthew, there is no such thing as complex in this Universe. The only thing that is complex is our thinking because we are to busy trying to figure out where we came from and how everything came to be. Its trying to understand infanite concepts with a finite mind. We have only been around for a fraction of the existance of the earth itself. Do you honestly think that there is a creator because of what we dont understand? Just another proof of my point.

Pamala.... First of all thank you for your response. No I am not 14 or 15 in fact I am 25, some 10 years your prediction. My point in the whole matter is that God does not exist and is nothing more than an excuse for inferior humans. The weak so to speak. You are another one, right along with Kristan. :-)

    I think what you're looking for is an absolutely logical explanation based on modern science, etc of what the hell was god thinking to make life crappier than it already is.

    Then please google "Karma" and all your questions will fade away forever :)

    Note: Buddhism is not a religion, it's a way of life. And Buddhism NEVER believe in the existence of god. Furthermore, all of complex life questions can be answered by Buddhism in the most scientific and logical way, one which no "faith" based religion on earth had ever been able to do until this date.

    You assume all people assume the Abrahamic version of deity is the sole version of 'God'. It isn't.

    You Can't Know if deity is real, any more than any can Know deity is real. But there is more than one meaning to the word 'god'. The Oxford Dictionary describes the word as meaning "That which is invoked". In that sense, there are Many Gods.

    I'm sorry you are so fixated on the idea that the Christian god is Only One, because it isn't. And it doesn't matter if the bible was written by people or not; the myths and stories and histories and laws are still real and valid for those who follow that religious path.

    But not 'everyone' believes God exists and not everyone who believe in Deity believes in the Abrahamic version of same. Generalizations do no good and lots of harm.

    And insulting those who choose to believe a certain way only shows that you haven't grown up and become and adult...you are still a child with a child's intolerance of things you don't personally believe in.

    Not everyone believes in a god. I don't. I call myself agnostic because I'm not 100 percent sure there's no god. I only say that given humans have invented and worshiped thousands, the God cited by most people here is probably fake as well.

    As for the why? Generations of brainwashing, dear. Lots of societal pressure to believe or act as if you believe. A need for something beyond what we know.
