Has anybody lost friends or family because of your political ideology?
I mean do they not talk to you or try to keep their distance because they have opposite views politically than you do? Both my parents are opposite of me politically and ever since they found out they rarely ever talk to me anymore. I'm wondering if this has happened to anybody else.

No family that are like this, they all respect peoples opinions.
And I don't be-friend douches that won't accept and respect my ideology.
I respect all ideology unless it negatively affects other people quality of living
@Susan Helip I'm sorry for your bother, but technically that isn't a ideology. Nor is it related to the law, it could've happened to anyone with or without laws. And this question is asking "YOURS political ideology" not others.

Not I, my husband and I are complete opposites politically and if a conversation gets to heated we agree to disagree and change the subject. You just gotta know when to let go and that it is alright if someone doesn't agree with you. You will lose people if you always gotta be right and push the issue.

I don't avoid my sister because she's a liberal...I avoid her because she's a shallow, materialistic, racist, welfare scum, and the way she wastes money and neglects her kids makes me sick...She lives off of the government and acts like she's better than us.
She also makes up lies about my family, our mother, and her childhood, so that people will feel sorry for her, and pay attention to her...Her constant need for attention makes her loud, annoying and embarrassing...I see her at Thanksgiving and Christmas because my mother forces me to, and we are stuck there until my sister's drama gets so huge even my mother can't take it anymore...Then it's over and we can go home...BUT, my mother made me add my sister on facebook because my sister kept complaining that I wouldn't (Yes, she also acts like she's 10 years old, and runs to my mother when I won't do what she wants - She is 32 years old)...I say "my mother MAKES me" meaning that she begs me to give in just to keep the peace...My sister upsets my mother terribly, I don't want to upset her, too.
@Susan: "lax gun laws"?...It's against the law to kill someone with a gun...The person who killed your brother BROKE the law...That's what criminals do, no matter what the laws are...

No.
All my Family & Friends are Democrats on Welfare.
We sit around and laugh how the Republicans have to work and Feed us.
That is soooooo Cool.

No. Unconditional, loving relationships can normally survive political differences no matter how ideological they are.

Yes, one of my husband's relatives was my sister's best friend for over 30 years. The relative became heavily involved with liberal politics and does not speak to either of them.

I've voluntarily severed ties with my brother since he became a Limbaugh-Rilley cheerleader. He's sad and disgusting at the same time: he used to be such a creative, intelligent, gentle, and talented person. Now he's just another mean-spirited blue-collar Christer chump.

I have lost family, friends, and a job. But it was worth it.
