A picture of this Eel woul;d help out greatly.
I hate when specimens are labled wrong or false information is given about them.
There is a chance that this species is a marine species and will need salt water. If you can post a picture it would help out immensely.
The reason he is trying to escape is because it might be a marine specimen. It also may be because he has no caves or anywhere to hide.

I'm glad you realize that it's a "supposedly" fresh water eel.
That's problem number one.
Number two is the health of the tank. (there's too many things to go into here)
3. don't leave uneaten food in the tank, in fact, never put in food that isn't eaten immediately.
4. leave the feeders in the tank, if they're the right size. If they're too large, remove them.
5. if the eel is small, try guppies next time.
6. start converting the tank to brackish or get rid of the eel.
7. it can take weeks for an eel to settle down. If your tank is set up properly, then great. If it is not , then the eel won't settle down, and will die. (proper tank mates, filtration, etc.)
8. he's not only looking like he wants to escape, but he can. They are Houdini fish. If your water quality is bad, or his tankmates bother him, or he doesn't have a safe hiding place, he will leave the tank.
EDIT: by the way, another time you asked a question, someone said if it hid all the time that was a sign of stress. that's bull. eels hide, and need an adequate hiding spot it can get all the way inside of. Otherwise it will be stressed. So exactly the opposite of what the person said in the answer.
You got to be careful with what you read or hear, some is pure crap.

First off you cannot feed those eels feeder fish. 1. It's inhumane, and 2. feeder fish are full of things that are NOT GOOD for almost all predatory fish including piranhas and eels. Take them out ASAP. They are also not fresh water fish. Your store is nuts. It's a MARINE fish.

Snowflake Eels are marine fish not freshwater, no wonder he is unhappy. You either need to take him back to the store or convert your freshwater to marine asap

snowflake eels would desire to be in saltwater rather of brackish or exceedingly freshwter confident it fairly is going to stay in freshwater even though it wont do stable it won't even consume and brackish water is a million/2 sparkling and a million/2 sparkling so it would be greater desirable than a tsp. i dnt be conscious of precisely yet i dnt think of thats it, and that i dnt think of a cichlid can stay in brackish water yet they might relies upon...
