Scientologists: A serious question.?

How can the Church of Scientology be a religion if parishioners are also allowed to be Christians, Muslims etc? Isn't that like saying someone can be a Christian and a Muslim at the same time - they can't.

    A author is a author. i'm specific that the human beings who have been around while Christianity have been given going concept it grew to become into ludicrous for his or her followers to purchase what the writers of the bible have been merchandising too. In a pair thousand years there would desire to be hundreds of thousands of human beings international worshiping on the alter of Tom Cruise. frightening isn't it? As an atheist and the spouse of a guy who thinks there probable is a God yet that back on his homestead planet he's probable basically a usual guy, i've got faith that i'm qualified to assert that there is somebody obtainable to have faith just about something.

    Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. There are axiomatic (self-evident) truths when one applies the knowledge that has been shared with us. We are all-denominational as there is no attempt in Scientology to define God. We acknowledge a Creator, but what that is, is up to each individual to decide.

    I will try to answer your question.

    What you are saying would be true if you limit your definition and concept of a religion to only denominational religions .

    The dictionary definition that applies to Scientology:

    Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.

    Scientology’s closest spiritual ties with any other religion are with Orthodox (Hinayana ) Buddhism with which it shares an historical lineage. But even here the relationship is based mainly on friendship and the recognition of the being as a spirit rather than any organizational ties.

    Gautama Buddha had the same viewpoint and was not trying to change anyones religion but to expand the understanding and knowledge of each individual regarding their true spiritual nature.

    Scientology is an applied religious philosophy.

    The term Scientology is taken from the Latin word "SCIO" : which means, in the fullest sense of the word, "knowing", and the Greek word "LOGOS" which simply means "study of". Literal meaning “knowing how to know”.

    The subject of Scientology is further defined as :

    "the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life. "

    The goal of religion is the salvation of the human soul or spirit.

    The knowledge and spiritual technology of Scientology is applicable and usable towards the attainment of that goal by any religious denomination or by any individual regardless of their faith or

    lack of faith.

    “We are all denominational rather than non-denominational, and so we should be perfectly willing to include in our ranks a Moslem or a Taoist, as well as any Protestant or Catholic…”

    (From the book "Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought":)

    It is also part of the Creed of the Church of Scientology.

    Here it is in it's entirety, hopefully this answers your question:

    "We of the Church believe :

    That all men of whatever race, color or creed were created with equal rights;

    That all men have inalienable rights to their own religious practices and their performance;

    That all men have inalienable rights to their own lives;

    That all men have inalienable rights to their sanity ;

    That all men have inalienable rights to their own defence;

    That all men have inalienable rights to conceive, choose, assist or support their own organizations, churches and governments;

    That all men have inalienable rights to think freely, to talk freely, to write freely their own opinions and to counter or utter or write upon the opinions of others;

    That all men have inalienable rights to the creation of their own kind;

    That the souls of men have the rights of men;

    That the study of the mind and the healing of mentally caused ills should not be alienated from religion or condoned in nonreligios fields;

    And that no agency less than God has the power to suspend or set aside these rights, overtly or covertly;

    And we of the Church believe that the laws of God forbid man;

    To destroy his own kind;

    To destroy the sanity of another;

    To destroy or enslave another's soul;

    To destroy or reduce the survival of one's companions or one's group.

    And we of the Church believe that the spirit can be saved and that the spirit alone may save or heal the body.
