I was forced to swear on the Bible in court, what should I do? I am an Atheist. Lawsuit or leave it alone?

Update:

Its becoming clear that people do not understand.... I WAS FORCED TO PLACE MY HAND ON THE BIBLE.... THAT MEANS THAT I INFORMED THE JUDGE THAT I WAS AN ATHEIST AND YES I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD TO DO IT.

Before you do anything rash, perhaps you should pray about it ??

Obviously, you're lying. Since they don't make you swear on the Bible in court, only raise your hand. Not only are you a bad troll, but you watch too much television.

    ADDED:

You're not even a very GOOD liar. If you informed the judge that you were an atheist, then why would he make you put your hand on the BIBLE?? The intent is to make you swear an oath to the truth. If you are an atheist, it would be pretty stupid to force you to swear on a BIBLE wouldn't it? Because he'd know that to you it was a worthless, fictional book.

Since that is not the procedure in ANY court in North America. In my opinion You are probably just a troll, and so it is not really an issue. If you are not just a troll (and lying), then you are talking about a courtroom somewhere else in the world, where your rights may not be the same as they are here - therefore in order to answer the question of whether or not you have any legal grounds upon which to bring a lawsuit we would need to know in which country this happened.

You never have to do it.

You have the right to refuse putting your hand on the bible. People do it all the time.

And honestly, I have been to several court proceedings, and I have never seen them still use the bible when swearing someone in.

No , as an atheist you could have made an affirmation (godless) instead swearing an oath. Most atheists who would care about such a thing know this. Maybe you're just a troll?

I swear on a beer can and the judge is cool with it.

  • (sigh). For probably the 500th time, NOBODY is forced to swear on a bible. It is not even an OPTION in most courts. You simply swear (or avow) to tell the truth.

leave it alone you pussy. Why would you sue over that. You didn't lose anything because they made you swear on a bible. You're just being a jackass.

No you weren't. All you had to do was tell them you didn't want to and they would have given you another option. Nice try, though.
