Thoughts about Brewers signing Norichika Aoki?

They've agreed to a two year deal with him. The number isn't specified. I find it strange, because it's literally the same day they agreed to a one year deal with Nyjer Morgan. I think they're anticipating Braun will be suspended. As much as I believe he didn't take PED's, and it was a medication for his STD, he should have reported it to the team doctors. And for not following such guidelines, they'll probably suspend him.

ANYWAY. He was a phenomenal player in Japan. Obviously that doesn't always transfer to the MLB, but what kind of potential do you feel he has?

His last season showed a bit of a slump, which isn't promising. However, that doesn't always mean the player is going downhill. I don't think he'll be Ichiro status, but I could see him being a Hideki Matsui type of player.

Thoughts?

BQ: Do you think it would be beneficial to trade Nyjer Morgan for a middle reliever, despite how well he gets the crowd going? (if you've ever been to Miller Park, you know what I'm talking about)

BQ2: Despite all the media attention they've been getting, do you honestly feel the Cubs have a chance at making it to the playoffs in the next three years?

I heard from someone that the deal was worth about 4 million dollars over that two year span, which I'm perfectly fine with. I'm just glad that they got the deal done, because I almost felt like the Brewers were surprised that they won the bidding for Norichika. Like you said, Aoki is most likely the backup plan with the Braun suspension looming. We can only hope that Braun's suspension is upheld, for the sake of not only Ryan himself, but for the fans of the Brewers and Major League Baseball in general.

Aoki will probably pan out to be a 4th outfielder like expected (if you buy the trend in Japanese players over recent years), but we could even see him as a potential replacement for Nyjer Morgan, who I'm not a fan of as a player in all honesty. From what I've heard, Aoki is an above average fielder despite a slightly worrisome throwing arm (which would still make him an upgrade over Nyjer in center). I'm a fan of the idea to put Aoki in right field and move Corey Hart to first base, rather than suffer with Mat Gamel as a liability.

I've watched him play a couple of times, and his gap power is significant. He isn't going to hit many bombs at Miller Park, but we could see him around the top of the club in extra base-hits if he gets proper playing time.

BQ: I would go for it depending on the reliever, but it isn't likely to happen. The Crew values his clutch ability too much, and they (for some reason) consider him to be a plus defender. I almost feel like Attanasio and Melvin buy into the fan hype the same way that all of the faithful do.

BQ2: In the next three years, maybe, but I wouldn't put them as contenders alongside the best of the NL Central just yet. Maybe Theo can work his magic over the next few seasons...who knows.

you do not likely understand how if any jap participant is robust. The Twins have been given Tsuyoshi Nishioka final 12 months, and he batted around .2 hundred. Norichika Aoki ought to be like Ichiro or he ought to easily be yet another puffed up jap participant. Japan leagues are plenty distinctive than the mlb. that is frustrating to tell if a jap participant are the real deal once you first them. you do not understand if Yu Darvish is the real deal yet. If Aoki finally ends up being somewhat like Ichiro, then i think of it fairly is a sturdy signing by potential of the Brewers. Then by using fact of this Tony Plush could be sitting on the bench whilst Braun comes decrease back if he's suspended.

Norichika Aoki isn't gonna impact much. He seems like a 4th outfielder with some decent speed and contact.

BQ-well, the brewers bullpen could use some help so sure.

BQ2- it all depends on their free agent signings.

I feel that it is a little strange that they have signed both outfielders and that probably eludes to the fact that Ryan Braun will be suspended but I think that it will cause some hype for Milwaukee baseball

absolutely no reaction because no one cares about the brewers

  • I think it's good...they could use some decent pitchers..
