Smoking endangers health and life. Smoking has been linked to more than 25 life-threatening diseases. It is, a major contributor to heart attack, stroke, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and various cancers, especially lung cancer. Smoking makes the breath stink and stains teeth and fingers a yellowish-brown. In men it contributes to impotence. It causes smoker’s cough and shortness of breath. Smokers are also more likely to experience premature facial wrinkling and other skin problems. Pregnant women who smoke endanger their unborn babies. Nicotine, carbon monoxide, and other dangerous chemicals contained in cigarette smoke enter the mother’s bloodstream and pass directly to the child in the womb. The consequences include a greater likelihood of spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, and death among newborns. Moreover, the risk of sudden infant death syndrome is three times higher for babies whose mothers smoked during pregnancy.

If someone quit smoking, he will likely live longer. Further, that person will be acting in harmony with God’s will, since the Bible says: “Let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of [the] flesh.” (2 Corinthians 7:1)

Smoking hurts others. The Bible says: “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39) Love for your neighbors—and your family members are your closest neighbors—is a powerful reason to quit.

Anthropologists have studied the times of Christ, and in that part of the world, it was common to make a body oil out of cannabis. It was part of cleansing rituals. There is reason to believe that He might have used it in this way. Only in America in the last century has marijuana had such a stigma attached to it. It is a plant, therefore, Big Pharm companies want to keep it illegal. You can not overdose on it. God put the plant on Earth for us to use. People have used it as medicine for a long time. But, of course, most people that read the Bible will tell you that what I just said is complete crap and that I'm going to hell. But there is a book by Terrence McKenna called Food of the Gods, about the link between mankind as we know it and altered states of consciousness. I do not smoke weed, but I think it should be legalized. I have also read the Bible. If you can have an enlightened moment, then you are already ahead of the curve. Please be careful and responsible. It is still illegal. Don't smoke and drive.

It says "Do not defile your body, for it is the temple of the Holy Spirit."

Nevertheless, I know many saved Christians that smoke.

They're just not sanctified enough yet.

Sometimes it's plain unbelief. Other times an unwillingness to get away from the people of the world. It can all take time. But, with the right prayers, belief and Spirit it can be beaten.

It is also written: a man's infirmities he MAY suffer, but a wounded spirit WHO can suffer.

Now; if you're hurtin' that much spiritually, your gonna take or do SUMMIT' to get rid of the pain ?

But Jesus came to heal all of our emotional scars. Study deliverance ministry and get all of the pain OUT and the cigs will just fade away like so much dirty smoke...

Tobacco was introduced to the Eurasian continent over 1000 years after the bible was written.

As a result, it's unsurprisingly quiet about it.

As if the bible knew ANYTHING of mass produced pieces of folded up paper with a plant product and thousands of chemicals designed to a) kill you and b) keep you coming back for more, thus killing you even more.

The bible says that the body is supposed to be his temple and whoever destroys his body will be destroyed, check in Corinthians. I guess if you destroy your body you die. Then you are destroyed in hell. Since you like fire and smoke you will be given your fill in hell

  • The Bible's not a medical textbook. Even if it was, it'd be a 2000 year old medical textbook...

    edit: apparently someone disagrees!
