What are the best kind of running shoes for a 5k?

I'm running my first 5k in September and I've been training in standard cross-trainers, but I feel I need a better pair of shoes that are meant for running. Any suggestions on brand?

Unless the course is all on grass, I would wear lightweight performance shoes. There are many different kinds of these. I would stick with a brand that you already know and like. My favorite for this kind of thing would be Asics. For the 5ks I will do this summer, I am just planning on wearing my training shoes. But I am in Cross Country and have spikes for those races. It is your choice, but unless you think you'll run a lot faster in the 5k than in any of your practice workouts, I would stick with your trainers. I would also get new shoes by then, so if you want to get performance shoes as well, go ahead. I will give a couple of suggestions for lightweight performance shoes: the Asics Gel-Speedstar 6, and the Asics Gel-Extreme.

There 2 forms of footwear I like to make use of while I run, (most likely) strolling and coaching. The shoe might rely at the surfaces, strolling (sidewalk, avenue, pavement monitor), coaching (grass, sand). Don't pressure should you strolling at the rough surfaces, seeing that you'll be able to handiest want your steady strolling footwear. On tracks with sand, it might be larger to make use of tiny spiked coaching footwear similar to: Nike Air Zoom SPARQ TR Elite Men's Training Shoe.
