What would you like to do to your home?

What kind of updating ideas/latest trends have you seen that you really like, and/or are going to do to your home? After new paint (hot new color?), carpet, cabinets & appliances, removing old popcorn ceiling what else can be done to make an 80's home look modern & stylish? Thanks for your ideas!

You can get tile or wood floor. If its tile then grey swirled with other colors. If wood a dark nice shiny wood. And paint the walls of white or grey. We remodeled our livinf room with the tile and wall i descibed. My parents are going to remodel their bedroom with the wood i descibed. Our house was built around the time yours was. We still have the popcorn in every room. Sorry i wasnt as help full as the other person who answered your question. Hey, can you also help me with my question. Its in the same plaaces as yours i asked it right before you asked yours. Thanks a lot . good luck with remodeling.

    EVERYTHING!

My husband (and his deceased wife) built this house in the 1970's. After meeting him, we married and I moved in......ALL of the walls had been painted a medium brown with black paneling. Carpteting everywhere...even in the kitchen. We tried to sell it (so we could buy something to build our memories in) but the market was going down hill fast. We took it off the market and I told him 'I am painting because I'm tried of living in a dungeon'. We used a primer, over all the paneling, and painted with a creamy beige color....it really lightened up the rooms. Earlier, this year, we had the carpeting removed (except bedrooms) and laid down laminate flooring (a somewhat light color because the house is so small) - that really made the place appear larger and updated. Our next moves are; new countertops (kitchen and bathroom) and to get rid of the 'popcorn' ceiling.

We replace appliances when needed. Meanwhile, we are living here until the market improves and then try to sell it again. With our improvements....it should be easier this time.

There is a new product on the market. Called stretch ceilings. Amazing technology. The product made of polyvinyl, which is 100%safe and recyclable. So many options to choose from. The company that manufactures the product in Toronto, call Universal Stretch Ceilings. They do all kinds of cool stuff. They even do prints on ceilings or walls. My friend did mirror ceiling. The result was above all expectations. Looked like two story kitchen. I believe their website is : www.universalceiling.com
