Is it bad that I feel being blocked by a certain asker in the cancer section makes me feel they....?
....cannot repudiate my arguments when I answer their questions?
Anyone capable of critical thinking should be able to repudiate another persons inaccurate arguments
BTW: I am not sure how quoting from the referenced persons own web site is a criticism of that person. By quoting their own words, surely that is showing how much I value them?
Being blocked in itself does not bother me, I could easily create another persona as so many do (have actually been using this one for 17 years, longer than some on-line have been alive!)
What concerns me is that by blocking people close their minds to alternate views and others seeing their views without any contradiction may be guliable enough to accept hem as true simply because there is no contradiction. There are some very young people oput there and I believe we have a morla obligation to help guide them.

As Rachel says, "some people just can't handle the truth."
This CT person thinks that by blocking you that he shuts down perfectly acceptable reasoning. The fact that he can't provide support for his claims and the fact that his idol can't support his claims is just too much for him. He thinks that by shutting down facts . . . quotes from his idol's website . . . that he can deny reality.
He has yet to support any of his claims. I, personally, can't wait until January 1. The internet will still be in business and our false prophet will have been proven wrong in a way that he can't accuse anyone of manipulation.
In case others aren't aware, here's our "critical thinking's" infamous claim:
"Because of the internet, more and more people are finding out the truth about cancer and many other diseases--that natural cures do exist and how the governments and drug companies have tried to hide this from the public. Nobody will change my mind about this because I've done tons of research, so there's no point in lying. However, I've heard from a reliable doctor that in December 2012, the governments are going to do a hoax. Apparently they are going to make out that a solar flare has damaged the satellites and therefore the internet will cease to exist. Because more and more people are turning to natural cures and are finding out how corrupt the government and drug companies are, apparently the governments are going to find a way to get rid of the internet, and I've heard they will use December 2012 as an excuse." http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArLag...
Delusional? Absolutely!
Fearful? Absolutely!
Misguided? Absolutely!
Never fear, there will be others to carry your banner.

Takarri -- You have been on this site for a long time. You are very well informed on the facts of cancer.
If a person blocks you it's because they don't accept or cannot admit they are wrong. I read the question you answered yesterday and the link that was provided exposed this quack as being a phony. The person who blocked you might as well block all Top contributors in the cancer forum as they would not agree either. Especially people who have had cancer we do alot of research on a reputable sight. Not to worry Takarri
we are aware of your knowledge & accept what you post. Along with you my friend we are united as breast cancer survivors. As far as you being a troll that couldn't be any farther from the truth.

You can't reason with someone who is committed to being unreasonable. I blocked that user ages ago, and now I just skip straight over his questions because no matter how much effort and sincerity is put into crafting a well-thought-out answer backed up with reputable evidence, he will scoff at it. Some people create their own mental answer key and apply it to all their questions, so no matter how correct you might be, in their mind, your answer will always be wrong because it doesn't fit the grid they're following. The 2+2=5 kind of allegiance to a false dogma isn't just Orwellian. Some will fervently insist upon something as being true regardless as to what is proven otherwise. He has locked his mind into a box that he's falsely and ironically labeled as Critical Thinking, and your rationality is impenetrable. He will continue to reference YouTube videos as his proof that he's right about cancer and its treatments, and you're wrong, and to insist that the whole world is coming to an end in December, so it won't really matter which one of you is correct anyway.
Since he's a believer in the Bible, you can apply the Biblical principle of not casting pearls before swine to him. I'm not literally calling him a swine, of course, but the point is that you don't waste your valuable knowledge and time on someone who is incapable of recognizing, appreciating, or learning from it. Proverbs 26:4 is also applicable: "never answer a fool according to his folly."

You are attacking instead of helping people, that's what makes you blocked. With the same ammount of input you criticise others you could contribute. You cannot make a glass of dirty water clean if you criticise it. You can make it clean by gradually pouring in clear water.

No, you're spot on. this person is quite unable to address, let alone repudiate, any challenges to his google-sourced nonsense
His only response to being asked for proof of his claims is to demand the asker proves him wrong, and to call them a 'moron'.
Just a reminder - most schools in England and Wales are closed this week. We may be hearing much more from him in the next few days
I think the term 'critical thinking' should be able to sue

I use blocking as a marker for what I think are dodgy questions, aka lies. I don't ask any questions, of course.
This is a remarkably tolerant site. There's the Monarchist in the Canada section who rants happily on, the alternate - very dubious - curer of cancer who advertises his quack business here endlessly, endlessly.......
I don't block people who make sense though.
Mind you, I got tossed out of a prominent support site, email me for the name, when someone sent me an email commenting what an evil, ugly person I was and got blocked by me. That made me think, but only a little, that if there is a blocking mechanism on a website, surely people are entitled to use it. Apparently on that group it turned out to be a terrible thing to do.

No, it isn't bad. If he can't handle what is the truth, then that's his problem. We still love you Tarkarri :D
Some people need to grow up an have learn that "natural cures" don't work in any circumstance (they don't). And also that cancer is one of those circumstances in which they don't work.
Personally, I'd like to see what treatment option he'd choose if he ever had cancer. I am willing to bet my savings (£21.94) that he would jump at the offer of chemotherapy and completely shun the idea of a natural cure.
Don't feel that way. If he can't handle the truth, that's just juvenile behaviour. He needs to grow up and understand what CRITICAL THINKING actually means.
ETA: I have now also been blocked by the user in question. I feel somehow cheated. I enjoyed my little rants about the so-called "Doctor" Coldwell and his cures...

It's not bad and I wouldn't worry about being blocked. That's that person's problem, not yours. This is Yahoo Answers, not real life.
I have on occasion blocked people if they were annoying and wouldn't quit being annoying. I really don't have time for some of that, but if a person blocks you because he disagrees with you that's another story.

That person is not open to anything and either has their mind made up or is just a dumb kid with nothing better to do.
If/when they get cancer the last thing they will do is follow their own advice.

You are right.
This is the immature cyberway of saying "I don't want to hear, and I don't want to think critical".
