Gurgling in kitchen sink.?

We have an RO unit. It does have an air gap faucet. A few months ago, and not associated with a filter change or anything else, it started making this obnoxious glugging/gurgling sound that can go on for hours as the unit's storage refills with water. Is this the sign of a problem? If not, is there a way to eliminate the gurgling?

Plumber or someone who has been through this and KNOWS the answer appreciated. I can and did Google, so don't need that. Yes I know I can hire a plumber, so that's not a useful response either.

That's quite normal. Mine does it all the time. However, I installed the same unit in my mother-in-law's townhouse. Hers doesn't make that gurgling noise because I didn't use the air gap. Rather, I installed hers in the basement and sent the discharge tube directly to a drain in the basement - being careful to leave sufficient air gap so the unit can never syphon bad water backwards into the system.

You can direct your discharge line directly to a drain that will allow you to have an air gap so you don't have to listen to that gurgling. But that noise is quite common and normal. They DO waste water but they deliver the best drinking water. Mine filters out and supplies water down to 15 PPM. My sink water is anywhere from 400 to 500 PPM dissolved solids.

    Hope this helps.
