Why are there so many television shows about the south these days?
In the last few years the media has blown up the south on TV, and its not always shown in the brightest light.
with shows like Duck dynasty, honey boo boo, moonshiners, you don't know Dixie ... etc...
whats is the new found fascination with southern lifestyle?
why the influx in shows?

I don't really watch those shows I won't put them down I guess its peoples way of making a living and they will take it as long as it works. But there are lots of other really good shows out there you must have seen some mini series and other things like Breaking Bad and Dexter and Game of Thrones and then The Borgia's and the Tudors you most look those up you will really enjoy

People like to feel good about themselves. One of the ways of doing that is by watching shows that make you think "we'll I'm not THAT bad". Also, people associate southern accents with low intelligence, so again, people like to feel superior. The southern shows capitalize on those characteristics.
