Sinus infections better known as sinusitis are caused by many different kinds of allergens, ranging from viral, bacterial, chemical, fungal and environmental like pollination and so on. What happens during a sinus infection is that the allergen enters the nose and causes irritation... the body releases histamines which cause inflammation and mucus then gets trapped in the sinus which turns green over time and caused pressure in the sinuses which is basically all in all what a sinus infection is all about.
Treatment differs according to cause and symptoms, some forms of sinusitis may require having to get antibiotics for a doctor.

You do have an infection, however signs vary.L have very severe sinusitis however no going for walks nostril and it is not fully blocked. It consistently returns although despite medications, and managing it on a each day foundation is required,ie recognising the triggers is most important. An operation to open further the nasal passages is the one everlasting remedy. L lose my steadiness, listening to affected, vision affected, fever, melancholy, unable to get out of bed, very fatigued, and peculiarly these damn giant complications, but very little phlegm. L had a 23 day one with out comfort and placing myself off certainly one of Hampstead huge timber used to be instead attractive. You do have sinus issues though. Ugh... I get these from time to time and they are the worst! They hurt so much and make me feel sick. It's very unpleasant. First off though, I'd check that you are definitely experiencing sinus infections and not migraines... the two often get confused because the pain and symptoms are so similar.
I don't really know what causes them, I don't have any allergens either. However, I do know what works for me to help relieve the pain. ibuprofen is handy because it acts as both an anti-inflammatory and a pain killer. What helps me the most though is an antihistamine (Telfast). I used to carry these around for my partner's hay-fever but now I often end up using them myself. As soon as I feel it starting to come on I take one and it works wonders for me.

Hot packs to the sinuses, and consider some foods so spicy they make your nose run -- sometimes that can break up the congestion a bit.

High doses of vitamin C. take 1000mg every 2hrs. Stop when you feel like you has gas. Lets say that is at 5000mg. The following day take 1/2 of what your max was.
