Cataract surgery lens choice?

Will need cataract surgery and want to study up on options now. Have had both RK and LASIK to both eyes. One eye surgeon told me because of that I must go with a MONOFOCAL lens. I understand you choose for one vision chioce, near or far. Wondering about what kind of options I will have to consider. Probably inclined to go with near vision over far as I don't drive much anymore, but do computer work, read, etc.

Wondering if there are particularly good web sites to look at for current, solid info.

Not really interested in the one eye near, other eye far option. Think that would cause me problems.

Please explain why you're answering question: eye surgeon, nurse in the field, someone who has been through the surgery...

If you don't want to go Mono, then you can't have one for near. You couldn't have BOTH of them for near , you wouldn't be able to see 3 feet in front of you. Monovision is one close, one far . You can't have both for close.

You won't find any site about it because it is a personal choice. What is best for your situation.

The best choice is always clear distance vision for both eyes with the implants , then you wear readers or computer glasses when needed. That way you can have readers for different working distances , and always have the best distance vision for seeing TV, movies, Plays, sports. Reading and computers are two different working distances that only different powered glasses can fix.

I've been working with post cataract patients for over 40 years.....I've learned a few things.
