Does spaghetti really grow on trees?

so i was watching bbc and they were showing farmers plucking spaghetti out of bushes and laying them out in the sun to dry. It was somewhere in Switzerland. They explained how each year the end of March is a very anxious time for Spaghetti harvesters all over Europe as severe frost can impair the flavour of the spaghetti. it said it was a delicacy. it also said that you could buy spaghetti bushes from your local lowes. I went there but they said they didnt have any. Does anyone know where to buy a spaghetti bush? Thanks in advance, buying it would save a lot of money http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/38910000/jpg/_3...

    The spaghetti tree hoax

is a famous 3-minute hoax report broadcast on April Fools' Day 1957 by the BBC current affairs programme Panorama. It told a tale of a family in southern Switzerland harvesting spaghetti from the fictitious spaghetti tree, broadcast at a time when this Italian dish was not widely eaten in the UK and some Britons were unaware that spaghetti is a pasta made from wheat flour and water. Hundreds of viewers phoned into the BBC, either to say the story was not true, or wondering about it, with some even asking how to grow their own spaghetti trees. Decades later CNN called this broadcast "the biggest hoax that any reputable news establishment ever pulled."[1]

This hoax was made by BBC on April Fools day sometime in the 1950s. BBC got overloaded with calls from people wanting spaghetti trees. But unfortunately it's a joke. A joke that is 60 years old.
