What is the meaning of Sanskrit word Taat and Pitamaha?

I was watching Mahabharata they called Bhishma Taatshri and Pitamaha.

Please suggest with a sandhi-vichedha for better clarity.

There is no sandhi formation here. They are just plain compound words.

'Taat' means grandfather. 'Shri' is just addressing with respect. There is no exact english translation word for it, but something similar to 'Sir'.

'Pitamaha' means great-grandfather. 'Maha' means great and 'Pita' means someone fatherly.

For Vidura, Pandu and Dhritarashtra, Bheeshma was of grandfather stature. For their kids, Pandavas and Kauravas, Bheeshma was a great-grandfather.
