Need help with math problem?

A shopper asked for 50 cents worth of apples. The shopper was surprised when she received five more than the previous week. Then she noticed that the price had dropped 10 cents per dozen. What was the new price per dozen?

    let x be the original price per dozen. (cents)

    then x/12 will be the original price per one

    (x/12) - (10/12) will be the price per one, after 10 cents per dozen

    50/(x/12) + 5 = 50/[(x/12) - (10/12)]

    solving

    x = 40 cents/dozen

    the new price per dozen = 40 - 10 = 30 cents/dozen
