Was I right to assume that this was a scam?

Just had a phone call (number withheld) claiming to be Yahoo anti-hacking team asking if I was the owner of my Yahoo mail address, the caller claimed to be calling from Finchley, London. I told him to get lost.

    Yes, sounds very dodgy to me.

    Yes you are right. I heard that one, claiming working for a company in London.

    It's a scam. Yahoo does not call people.

    You can report to Action Fraud http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ if you have their phone number

    Yes they wouldn't try to call you
