Rising Star Voting Confusion?

On the reality singing show Rising Star, there is interactive user voting that gets a voter to 70% to move on, but can anybody explain to me why the voting percentage only goes up? If people can vote no, then the number should sometimes go down, right? I can't possibly conceive why it would only go up. Somebody please explain this.

It's because when you don't vote or haven't voted yet it automatically counts as a "no". So as soon as you swipe "yes" then it counts as a yes.But if you swipe no then it doesn't really change because you were already technically "voting" no. So it can't go down no matter what because you can't change your answer. I hope that made sense.
