I have a desktop pc and my hard drive wont boot into my windows 7 OS and i am hearing odd clocking sounds?

Coming from the hard drive and when I do make it to Windows 7 it works for about an hour then crashes, frezing, shutting off and so on, if I buy my self a usb external hdd would that boot back to my Windows I have an Asus mb 8 core AMD, I mean if I plug the usb in it'll automatically work without having to go into Windows right ?

Your hard drive is failing. Only if you install Windows on the external drive and set that as your boot drive in the BIOS, would it boot to Windows. External hard rives come "bare" - nothing is installed on them.

    Replace your hard drive.
