add hot water and stir. often ant infestations occur when compost is too dry. add cinnamon to your compost, ants hate cinnamon. you can stir coffee grounds as well. a mixture of part vinegar part water sprayed directly on the ants will kill them.

Use plastic bags to remove and store the compost. Make sure to make each bag air tight. Pour boiling water on the ground where the compost was, and dig their nest out, and dispose it in the trash by using plastic bags. Wait until all the ants are dead in the bags before using the compost.
