I have been a member of Lion's Club for many years and many optical stores have boxes but sometimes they keep in it back because of floor space. Just put your old glases in a bag and the next tiem your at the mall visit the optical shop there and they will likely take them. It could be "Gift of Sight" and they are also a fine group to donate your glasses to.

Check with either a local store that sells glasses or a local chapter of the Lions club (that's one of their big projects).
