Car registration?

Update:

I have IL plates that just expired. I moved to MO but am moving to NC in a month or two. Should I just wait till I get to NC or register it in MO anyways?

    It costs less to register than to pay the fine.

    Yes, all vehicles must be registered if they are driven on the roads.
