I downloaded windows 10 when it was free so does it now belong to me now when it's not free?

If you downloaded W 10 from Microsoft's Windows 10 FREE Upgrade website, it is legit.

And, once you install it, it is yours. If another PC also meets ALL the Upgrade Requirements, it is also a free DOWNLOAD.

TIP: Windows 10 will automatically self-ACTIVATE, if you met all the UPGRADE Requirements. If your Upgrade fails, you did something wrong.

Once you do the download for Windows 10 its your if you read up on how to find and record the product key which has been hidden!

But as for the other computer once the free upgrade is over you will have to purchase if you haven't already done a free upgrade

You downloaded it only? Have you installed it yet? If you have not installed it yet, you need to do so if you want to take advantage of the free offer.

Once you install the free upgrade, it's yours free forever. The 29 Jul 16 expiration date you keep hearing simply means that people have until 29 Jul 16 to take advantage of this offer. It does NOT mean that your free copy of Win 10 suddenly becomes something you have to buy. There is a lot of misinformation being spewed by certain groups of people with respect to this date and they are trying to scare people into thinking they are suddenly going to have to pay for the Win 10 they have installed. The only people who will have to pay for Win 10 after 29 Jul 16 are people who have never installed the free upgrade.

So don't worry. You're good to go.

If you had a valid copy of Win 7, 8 or 8.1, then the upgrade to Win 10 is free until July 29, 2016. It's free for life.

If you want Win10 on a 2nd machine, install a legit Win 7 or 8 to it. You can get really cheap Win7 Ultimate licenses on ebay ($25), then upgrade to Win 10 Pro for free (value: $199, afaik)

However you got Windows 10 - whether by buying it, buying a new PC with it on, or upgrading to it from a legitimate earlier version, then it is yours for the life of the PC.

Actually, you never own windows of any version going all the way back to windows 95. You only have a liscence to use the operating system on that computer. Also you cannot migrate it to another PC, you cannot copy it or distribnute it at all. In addition you are giving Microsoft permission to spy on your system, keep records of your system on their servers, gleen marketing data from your personal information and use it for resale. You also are agreeing with Microsoft to allow them to probe any and all personal information on the system and report it to law enforcement as they deem appropriate. So basically, by using windows 10 you are surrendering all rights to personal privacy to Microsoft. Welcome to life in the fish bowl Komrade.

Its yours, you own it, but only for that specific pc, if u want it for another u need to buy it seperately, or u can buy a win 7/8.1 cheaper and upgrade for free with that
